The pommel is a trapezoidal shape in plan with rounded corners. In cross-section the pommel is an oval shape. The grip tapers towards the blade in plan. The grip appears to be decorated with horizontal grooves. The blade has parallel edges which are distorted on the lower portion of the blade due to ?damage, but not recent damage. The blade, in cross-section, is triangular before becoming distorted and then it appears to have been flattened. The only decoration on the item is a fine horizontal groove at the top of the blade. The majority of the surface has a red/brown colour, a conservator has suggested the sword maybe made of just copper. There are also traces of a beige coloured coating, particularly on the grip. On this coating there are even smaller traces of gilding.
