The Portable Antiquities Scheme

An assemblage of ten post medieval ceramic vessel sherds of German Westerwald stoneware.dating to the period c. AD 1600 - 1800. The assemblage consists of one rim sherd, five body sherds and four base sherds.The fabric is a buff orange colour and has been highly fired. It is coated on both the exterior and interior with a light grey glaze with a cobalt blue glaze applied in bands to accentuate parts of the design. One of the body sherds exhibits an incomplete applied relief portrait medallion depicting a crowned head. One of the body sherds exhibits an incomplete applied relief design consisting of a series of two curved lines of pellets and traces of floriate designs.Collective weight: 147.59
