Four sub-rectangular tesserae in a hard white stone, set within an off-white cement-like mortar with frequent small stone and granular inclusions. There is also grog within the mortar (from grey ware vessels). The tesserae must have formed part of a Roman mosaic from the Wigginton villa site, known to have been flurishing during the forth century AD (Henig & Booth 2000).
