A Medieval copper alloy buckle frame dating from the 15th century. The frame is made from a sheet strip, now distorted, but originally formed into an obliquely-angled outside edge between curving sides and with curled ends containing fragments of separate iron bar. The upper face of the outside edge is decorated with a central longitudinal line of rocker arm engraving. On the outside of this is another similar line but divided into short sections. Inside are numerous short angled lines of rocker arm. Compare NMS-475EC6 which cites broadly similar types from a Cheapside buckle-makers hoard, shown in Margeson (1983), Plate IX and suggests a 15th century date. The copper alloy has a smooth bright green patina. The bar, plate and pin are missing.
