Fragments of wall painting

These fragments of painted plaster testify to the decoration of the reception rooms of domus PC1 at the oppidum of Bibracte (Mont Beuvray, Burgundy, France). Despite their poor preservation due to soil acidity, they show that the houses of Bibracte rivalled those of Italy. The motifs belong to the third Pompeian style, characterised by simple compositions separated by coloured bands. (Loan from Musée Rolin, Autun, and Bibracte Museum)
