On this episode of New Mexico in Focus, we want to wish you and your families a safe and socially distanced holiday weekend. We appreciate you spending a little bit of it with us here at New Mexico in Focus. November is Native American Heritage month. We are dedicating our show this week to stories of our Indigenous communities and the issues they face, that includes the resurgence of COVID-19 which is of course continuing to create massive health and economic challenges. We will also look back at a terrific story we did last year on the reasons why we should all embrace the idea of decolonizing our diets, and that's just in time for your holiday feasting season. We also want to share with you some of our favorite videos from last year and readings from the first ever Native American National Poet Laureate, Joy Harjo, who went to school at the Institute of American Indian Arts right here in Santa Fe.
