This week New Mexico's world-class printmakers impress their skills and techniques on ¡Colores! They utilize what has become the distinctly American printmaking tradition of lithography--the making of an image by transferring an ink impression made on limestone to a sheet of paper. The collaboration between the artists who design lithographs and the Master Printers who create them makes these prints unique. ¡Colores! will take you inside the University of New Mexico's Tamarind Institute--the only training ground for printmakers in the United States--and you'll meet the Master Printers who have completed their training there. Together they have established New Mexico as one of the world's great centers for this unique art form. Guests: Glenn Goldberg, Floramae Cates (Curatorial Assistant, University of New Mexico, Department of Prints and Photographs), Bill Lagattuta (Master Printer, Tamarind Institute, University of New Mexico), Richard Levy (Richard Levy Gallery), Jeff Ryan (Master Printer, 21 Steps), James Drake.
