PBS’s new arts advisor and former NEA chairwoman, Jane Chu, shares the importance of women’s leadership in the arts. “When you are helping others thrive by creating an environment where the arts can thrive, and they can be connected to the arts in their own ways, you’re helping them express their own hearts as well.” Conductor Gemma New brings talent, passion and leadership to Santa Fe Pro Música’s “Women of Distinction” initiative. “That’s what I fell in love with when I was 12 years old, the fact that I was creating something that was bigger than myself.” One of Santa Fe Pro Música’s “Women of Distinction,” Lina Gonzalez-Granados shares breaking ground as a female conductor and the importance of women in leadership roles. “The fact that you’re a woman in this age and time is an act of bravery if you want to pursue your dreams.”
