A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which Benjamin Silliman extensively discusses the conflict between Hitchcock and Dr. James Deane. Silliman comments on their respective pieces for his Journal of American Science and informs Hitchcock that he regrets the way he phrased his remarks to the Association of American Geologists in Boston.
