Incomplete copper alloy miniature shield. The shield is flat, hexagonal with curved sides in plan, and has a raised pointed-oval boss in the centre. There is no surface decoration or any sign of a grip on the reverse of the boss. There is a small irregular hole in the upper part of the shield, slightly off-centre. It is not clear whether the hole is intentional or damage. The shield is in a fair state of preservation although much of the perimeter is abraded or missing.Miniature shields are difficult to date however they are thought to range from circa 400BC to the mid-late 1st century AD.
