An incomplete copper-alloy Roman miniature votive copy of a Bronze Age axehead. The axehead is complete but the projecting loop is now missing, due to an old break. It is rectangular in shape with rounded corners and measures 23mm in length and 10mm in width. It flares slightly towards its tip and also becomes thinner in thickness. It is 5mm thick at the loop end and 2mm thick at the flared blade end. The axehead is solid and does not have a hollow socket as other examples sometimes do. It has a dark brown patina over a medium green sub patina which shows through in small patches. Other Roman votive socketed axeheads have been found at Chillesford and Alderton, Suffolk and Isleham, Cambridgeshire, (see SF-632655) a votive flat axehead has also been found at Claydon, Suffolk.
