A Roman copper alloy miniature votive axe (AD43-410). The axe-head is trapezoidal in plan, tapering in width from the cutting edge to the butt; the upper edge is curved. The handle is oval in section 24.64mm long. The object has been cast in one piece and designed to appear as if the handle passes through the socketed axe-head. The axe is undecorated. Patchy mid-green patina with areas of red brown base metal showing through.Dimensions: length 34.23mm, width 24.25mm; thickness 1.36mm; weight 3.11g
