Post Medieval Fragment of cast white-metal sleeve or handle cover, probably for a knife, probably with a whittle tang. One end is broken, the other open and intact. Probably a tube of rectangular section, all of one side and the stubs of two others survive. On exterior of the intact side in well executed rocker-arm engraving XW or MX. An M or W on one broken face suggests that when complete it was not much wider. The two exterior angles and the intact end are chamfered. Length >28mm, width 16mm increasing to 17.5mm at intact end. Thickness >7mm, perhaps c.9mm. The internal socket varies from 7mm to 11mm in width. 16th century.
