A miniature object in the form of a cast copper alloy axehead of probable of 1st/4th century Roman origin. The axehead may well have been hafted via the cast hole (eye) to the top of the blade. The axe is probably a votive device and whilst it is presumed to be Roman, a later medieval origin cannot be ruled out.The surface has a rough dark brown/green corrosion.
