Copper alloy with enamelHarness Pendant. Cast shield-shaped pendant, with stub of an apical suspension loop. A design of three red (gules) enamel chevrons appears against a ground of uncertain tint, possibly either white (argent) or yellow (or). This may indicate the differenced arms of, and hence affiliation with, the de Clare earls of Gloucester; Gilbert de Clare (died 1295) was the leading baron of his day (Jim Halliday record sheet, 18 November 2007, drawing on information from I.H. Szymanski). Suggested date: Medieval, 1250-1350. Length: 27.1mm, Width: 15.8mm, Thickness: 1.4mm, Weight: 1.67gms.
