Incomplete Medieval harness fitting, part of composite swivel comprising flattened hollow sphere (diameter 29mm, 15mm thick), both flattened faces with circular raised area decorated with incised radiating lines around central perforation, both perforations contain swivelling cuboid element (both 8 x 9mm) perforated for missing D-shaped loop. The un-perforated faces on the swivelling elements are decorated with an engraved lozenge enclosing a counter-relief quatrefoil. Cf. drawing of a similar although more elaborate example from Kirby Kane (HER 36238). 12th century.
