The epic events: a comic about my everyday life in Denmark

I'm originally from the Ruhrgebiet area in Germany and before moving to my current home in England i lived in Denmark for just over a year. After initially just going to Denmark to attend some art classes in Viborg, I ended up getting a job offer from Copenhagen and moved there some time later. Even though in Copenhagen you don't really need to learn Danish as everyone speaks English very well, I decided to take Danish language lessons - partly because I wanted to integrate more into the Danish culture, but also simply because I wanted to make new friends. There are quite some similarities between the German and Danish language but the pronunciation is very tricky. In my first lesson we learned that Danish has lots of vowels, many of which sound the same to the untrained ear. We had quite some fun with the whole class and as I am drawing a webcomic about my daily life from time to time, I shared a little cartoon about this experience on the language school's facebook page. The cartoon got quite some attention on there - apparently quite some people could relate to my struggles with the Danish language - and the language school asked me whether I was interested in drawing more comics about my experience as a foreigner in Denmark. I was happy to do so and found it quite easy to find other peculiarities about my new life - it was just a matter of going to the supermarket and being overwhelmed by the massive range of milk products or observing the Danes' way to deal with the mostly unpredictable weather. My language classes also provided lots of inspiration as Danish can be quite challenging and you can't help but sound funny when learning it. I loved living in Denmark but as I found a great job in England I left Copenhagen after one year and therefore never fully learned the Danish language properly. I now enjoy experiencing the peculiarities about the English way of living which is great fun, too.
