Memphis, Tennessee, 5-cent red adhesive provisional used on envelope to Russellville, Tennessee. The Memphis provisionals were printed by Col. M.C. Galloway, who was the owner and editor of the "Avalanche" as well as the local postmaster. The designs were engraved on wood from which stereotypes were made.
