The Portable Antiquities Scheme

A Hammered silver shilling of James I (1603-1625). This example has the rose mintmark further defining the date to 1605-6, from the second coinage period. The obverse has the portrait bust right with XII in the field behind, the reverse has the square top and quartered royal shield.The coin has been centrally struck and is in fair condition with some limited chips and clipping to the rim.
