Probably a late medieval forgery of a silver penny of Henry V (AD1413-1422) or Henry VI (AD1422-61; 1470-71) dating from the 15th century. York ecclesiastical mint. Legend is incoherent and blundered. The marks next to the crown indicate a copy of Henry V issue but the annulet and trefoil stops in the legend are of Henry VI and it is possible the forger could have taken the marks of existing coins still in circulation and just copied them all onto this coin.Possibly some copper corrosion on the reverse as well.I A similar imitation of an Edwardian penny has been recorded under LON-085BE4. SWYOR-3D2431 is a copy of an Edward IV at Dublin coin. SUSS-988A34 is probably an Edward IV copy but there although the portrait is bad things like the pellet circle and legend are passable, unlike this one which is similar in quality to DENO-9FEEE1. In general later medieval forgeries (as opposed to continental copies) seem rarer than those of the Edwards but we know some were made because there are records of punishment.
