A Post-Medieval crudely made gold intaglio finger ring. The hoop is circular in profile and narrows towards the bottom; the inside of the hoop is concave. The square raised bezel has a female portrait facing left, and incuse lettering to either side: the letters appear to be ‘RICI’ to the left, and ‘VI’ to the right.Although the ring imitates late Roman rings in its general appearance, it does not do so in any other respect, and there is no evidence from the way the ring has been manufactured to suggest that it is more than 300 years old.
