A possible Roman tessera. Due to abrasion around the edges, it is uncertain as to whether this tile has been deliberately cut down from a tegula for the purposes of making a mosaic tile, or whether its form is simply the result of the accidental breakage of a tegula and the subsequent erosion of its edges. The tile is sub-square in plan. One of the vertical edges appears to be intact; the other three are less regular and highly abraded. The upper surface of the tile is flat, while the underside is irregular. The fabric is light orange in colour and has occasional small grog and stone inclusions. The artefact measures 30.3mm long, 28.7mm wide and 16.4mm thick. The weight is 19.12g.
