A complete, Post Medieval, Struck or hammered, silver Henry VIII halfgroat, Second coinage (1526-1544). Obverse: Young portrait in profile Renaissance style, bust right. Crowned arch breaking inner circle. Inscription: HENRIC VIII DGR AG(L Z FRA). Reverse: Long cross fourchee over Royal shield with T C beside shield - Archbishop Thomas Cranmer from 1533. Inscription: CIVITAS CANTOR. Mint mark: Catherine wheel on obverse only (36 Canterbury). Mint name: Canterbury. Die axis: 5 o'clock. The coin has a full flan and is in extremely fine - barely worn condition with attractive silver colour. This coin is likely to date from 1533-1544. Ref. The coin is 19.12mm long, 18.82mm wide, 0.74mm thick, diameter 19.12mm and weighs 1.3g.
