Silver Roman denarius. This rare piece was struck between April and June AD 68 by Galba in Spain. Galba had agreed to join the revolt against Nero so started to strike coins. Some of the early coins did bear his name and portrait, but others looked back to the past. One issue bore the head of Augustus. This particular coin is copied from a Republican coin of L. Scribonius Libo of 62 BC which also depicts Bonus Eventus (RRC 416/1). This coin is RIC I, no. 6. There is no coin struck from the same dies in the British Museum or the Bibliotheque Nationale (Paris).RIC I, p. 203, c.f. no. 6
