A Post Medieval copper alloy token. One one side there is a crest with a shield displaying 3 lions surrounded by foliate mantel and a create above; the crest is unclear but appears to be a helmet facing right. There is a legend surrounding the central design is partially illegible but appears to be in Latin : [...]AN[...]DURBAN ANI [...]On the other side of the token are two robed standing figures; one standing facing forward and holds a staff and the other advancing right with his hand crossed in front of his body, possibly drawing a sword. The surrounding legend is illegible.A very similar example can be seen on the database: LVPL-8BB785. Geoff Egan suggested that this find is a 16th century moralising medallion/token.Thickness: 1 mmDiameter: 31 mm
