An Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) silver penny of Baldred of Kent (823-825), non-portrait type (obverse: North 216, Naismith C61.4; reverse: North 214var/215var, Naismith C61.4var), mint: Canterbury, moneyer: Diormod. Ref: North 1994: 75-6; Naismith 2011.The obverse of the coin matches that listed by both North (1994: 75) and Naismith (2011). The reverse appears to be a variation of Naismith C61.4 with the inscription ending in '+' rather than 'm'.Obverse: +BELDRED REX CANT (NT ligated); Small cross pattée within a plain circleReverse: DI/OR/MO/D+; Small cross pattée within a plain circle, legend divided into quarters by forked lines.
