Large flint core / primary flaked nodule of probable Neolithic date, The core is formed on a poor quality nodule of flint which has a large amount of cortex and dark grey coloured inclusions. The surface also has significant areas of multiple holes/depressions.The core has 2 primary bulbs of percussion and may have been discarded as being of too low grade for further working.A Neolithic date 2900 - 1800 BC may be suggested as similar dated debitage and tools have been found in the immidiate vicinity. The discovery of such large pieces of unworked / unprocessed flint is highly unusual and this piece has been recorded a it forms part of that landscape assemblage in the area.The Core Measures 55.3mm length, 40mm width, is 29mm thick and weighs 49.03 grams.
