A silver penny of Edgar, early portrait, Bust Crowned type, c.959-973 AD. Part of one side of the coin is missing due to old breaks. This is by an East Anglian moneyer whose name might be reconstructed as 'Svartinc'. Dr. Martin Allen (pers. comm.) notes that this appears to be a new moneyer for Edgar's reign, but that a similar coin in the British Museum reading 'SAYDINC' may be the same moneyer.
