Medieval Buckle of unusual form formed from thick sheet: very wide outside edge with very faint engraved lines, flapped over “pin rest” with oblique engraving, vertical sides with rounded ends and straight upper edges. The sides are perforated to hold both an iron spindle covered by an copper alloy roller and an iron bar. Attached to the bar are the remains of the iron pin and of the iron plate. The latter has folded forward and is lodged under the outside edge. 41mm x 17.5mm. Examples from London are dated by Fingerlin (1971, Abb.324-5, Kat. Nr.229 & 192) to the 15th century.
