Medieval copper alloy rectangular mount, probably for belt/girdle, with four separate rivets. Engraved borders, within which engraved lines mark out "ihc", a variation of "ihs" meaning Jesus Christ. Internally the letters are plain, but in the space between the letters (within the borders) there is zig-zagged engraving or "wriggle work". The rivets remain intact, including heads and roves. One rivet hole is filled with the rove, but the rest of the rivet, including the head, is missing. The other, fourth rivet is missing altogether. The mount has one corner bent rearwards slightly.
