Medieval copper alloy annular brooch, pin missing. The frame is angled upwards towards the centre and is decorated with concentric engraved rings enclosing twelve trapezoidal panels separated by transverse engraved lines. The panels are alternatively decorated with close-set rocker-arm engraving and tinning or silvering. The sixth panel of the latter is largely replaced by the pin hole, which has worn through to the perimeter. The whole of the underside is thinly covered in tinning or silvering. Internal diameter 9mm, external diameter 18mm. The decorative scheme is very unusual. 13th or 14th century.
