Medieval hooked strap-end made from a sheet folded in half widthways and secured by two iron rivets. The corners of the attachment edge are chamfered. The hook is made from doubled-up wire projecting through a hole in the centre of the fold, with the ends split apart and held within the fold. Decoration on the front consists of randomly applied repoussé dots and oblique, longitudinal and transverse lines of rocker-arm engraving. Length 32mm (24mm without hook). Width 16mm. An unusual object. 15th - early 16th century.
