The Portable Antiquities Scheme

Incomplete medieval gilt copper alloy buckle plate, rectangular, opened-out but originally folded widthways, recessed with slot for missing pin, vertical line of three rivet-holes, each containing remains of an iron rivet. Face with gilding retained within rocker-arm engraving forming three large roundels, each containing a smaller roundel, the central one with internal radiating lines. Length (restored) c.23mm. Width 37mm. 12th-13th century.
