The Portable Antiquities Scheme

Distorted and abraded fragment of gilt Medieval openwork brooch with strip pin hammered to a point set in a constriction (rebated only on the outer edge). Both broken ends of the sub-rectangular section hoop are bifurcated. There are traces of rocker-arm engraving on the front face. Length of pin 21mm. The original form is uncertain. 13th century.
