A worn but complete copper alloy annular object, probably a bead, of uncertain date. The bead has a flat interior and bevelled outer, giving it a D-shaped profile. On the outer edge of the D, or the rised central ridge of the outer hoop, numerous linear indentations are set vertically across the width of the hoop, giving a crenellated appearance, although now worn. Several similar beads, all undecorated, have been recorded on this database including SF-B53242, LIN-E32586 and KENT-A047F2, while BERK-CFAA71 were found a few miles from this example. Beads such as these were in use over a very long period of time, from the Bronze Age through to the medieval period, however given the landscape and findspot a date of the later Iron Age to Early-medieval period is more likely. The bead has an internal diameter of 10.7mm and an external diameter of 17.6mm.
