Woman nursing a child. There are several known Indian versions of this composition, dateable to the seventeenth and eighteenth century, all drawing ultimately from a European print image. Painting, colours and gold on paper, mounted on card, seated woman breastfeeding a child, with cup, fruit and books on a grey stone ledge in foreground, draped purple curtain above, and plain landscape and sky behind, composition based on Flemish print engraving, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, undated, c. 1775.
