An Iron Age copper alloy miniature terrett ring. The terret is sub-circular in plan with a D-shaped cross section. A short length of the ring perimeter is straightened into a narrowed bar which is flanked at either end by a wider double collar. The reverse side of the terret is flat. The surface is green in colour and is heavily pitted. A similar example albeit with a circular section can be seen in 'Early Celtic Art in Northern Britain' by M. Macgregor, Fig.52. Likewise another example from Yorkshire is recorded on the PAS database: SWYOR-6FB6D2. The terret dates from circa 800 BC-100 AD.
