Incomplete copper alloy miniature shield. The shield is flat, hexagonal in plan with curved sides, and has a raised oval boss in the centre. There are two circular holes near the boss and one through it, although these look more like damage than intentional rivet holes. The shield is in a fair state of preservation. Parts of the perimeter are damaged, and the upper quarter of the shield is missing.Miniature shields are difficult to date although they are thought to range from circa 400BC to the mid-late 1st century AD.
