The Portable Antiquities Scheme

A Medieval silver gilt miniature annular brooch (13th century). The circular frame also has a circular cross-section and is undecorated. The pin has been bent around the frame forming an incomplete loop for attachment. The pin is decorated with three incised transverse lines just below the attachment loop. It is similar to no. 147 found in Brampton on Swale, North Yorkshire, except the decoration on the pin differs (2003T.389 Treasure Annual Report 2003). Dimensions: diameter 13.17mm; thickness 3.17mm; weight 1.07g
