ROMAN MINIATURE OBJECT

A late Iron Age or Roman copper-alloy miniature or model axe. The axe-head is flat, trapezoid, and divided on both sides by a pair of grooves that define the swelling for the half. The axehead is decorated on one side only. The butt-end contains a central horizontal row of dots, while the main body contains a central row extending from the halt, terminating at the line of a vertical row of pellets approximately half way along. The swelled section is also decorated with a vertical row of dots. The haft is circular in cross-section and is decorated with a vertical row of dots, curiously, on the opposite side to the decoration on the axehead. The terminal has a narrowed band.
