Cast cu-alloy handle of a posnet or skillet, probably dating from the 16th or 17th century AD. It is made from leaded copper alloy and probably broken off close to the rim of the vessel. The cross section is triangular and the upper surface was decorated with a moulded floral decoration that is made up of quatrefoils and leaves. Dr Naomi Payne suggests that, because it is fairly straight (rather than having a downwards curve) it has come off a skillet, but the dropped end could indicate a slightly earlier date and it might be from a posnet (miniature cauldron with a handle). The decoration suggests 16th or 17th century.
