A miniature Medieval brooch, circular in shape, the reverse flat, but the front engraved with the design to give greater dimensionality. This consists of grooves, alternating with small, circular punches, to create the effect of twisted wire. The pin is intact and is held within a recess in the frame.The brooch is silver gilt and dates from the thirteenth century. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
