Mud cloth

This cloth is made for the tourist market and is an image from daily life and women's work. The cloth is painted in a family context. The weaving of the bands for the cloth may have been made elsewhere. The weaving width is 13,3 cm. The threads of the weave are Z-spun, the weave is 15 threads in the warp and 11 threads in the weft and are beige in colour. The stitching threads are S,2z spun(see M6-52). It looks as if the cloth was once hung at the corners, as they are stretched.The image is a painting of three women working the land and watering it.
