Vervaardiging: Oey Soe Tjoen

Hip cloth of patched cotton, called pagi-sore. This cloth could be worn in two ways. During the day the cloth was draped in such a way that the dark half (sore= afternoon) was visible. In the evening, the cloth was turned over so that the light half (pagi= morning) was visible. The cloth is signed by Oey Soe Tjoen, a very renowned batik artist from Kedungwuni, near Pekalongan. The bouquets on the green half are originally European in style. Oey started to imitate this style and developed it further. He created a three dimensional effect in his canvases by using different color shades. On the light half of the painting, peacocks and typical Central Javanese motifs of wing pairs are depicted.
