Largest Laboratory Diamond--That icy looking block at bottom is a diamond--and it was produced in a laboratory. About 1/16th of an inch in its longest dimension, its relative size is indicated by a standard diamond high fidelity phonograph needle at top. The diamond was produced at General Electric Research Laboratory here by subjecting carbonaceous material to extremely high pressures and temperatures.
