Secretary of the Navy Charles Francis Adams, of Massachusetts, one of the twelve notables on whom honorary degrees were conferred at the 293rd commencement of Harvard University June 20. He received the degree of Doctor of Laws. His citation was: "Extraordinary manager of our finances, whom the heritage of public service has drawn to the charge of the country's Navy."
