Collision at Home Plate--Willie Mays of the San Francisco Giants collides with catcher Pat Corrales of the Phillies as he slides into home plate in the first inning of their game tonight in Philadelphia. Corrales was knocked out on the play and carried off the field. Later he was taken to a hospital for X-rays and observation. Mays managed to walk off to the dugout but was taken out of the game. It all began with Tom Haller of the Giants hitting the ball to Richie Allen at third base. Allen threw wild past first base and right fielder John Callison retrieved the ball and threw to Corrales.
