Artist John Potter Wheat, 38, above, is in serious condition in a Stamford, Conn. hospital from three gunshot wounds. Darien, Conn., police said the artist's wife fired the shots early today in their Darien home. Police Chief J. Edmund Brencher said Mrs. Barbara Kahle Wheat, 38, had been booked on a charge of assault with intent to murder.
