But starting this year, the county is offering workers a plan with a $3,000 deductible for a family. Now, that normally wouldn't be that good a deal, except the county gives each employee $3,000 every year in the form of a health savings account that can be used to pay out-of-pocket costs. If you don't spend it all, it rolls over to the next year and can be taken with you if you go to work someplace else. Both plans cover the same doctors and hospitals, except the HSA plan costs the county about $7,000 a year less per employee.
