Scrapbook on International Students at Springfield College

This is a scrapbook with photographs and information on International Students at Springfield College. There are 41 pages including the covers. Blank pages and backs of pages with nothing on them were not digitized. The scrapbook has photographs of students who were at Springfield College from 1934 through 1941. There are a few group photographs, including one with all International Students, students from Canada, Students who studied at the University of Geneva during the 1934-35 school year, and a photograph of Black students at Springfield College. Most are portrait photographs with brief paragraphs about the students. Students are organized by country or region, including China, India, and various countries from Europe and South America. There are some loose photographs, which have been included with scrapbook where they were discovered at the time that the scrapbook was digitized. These include the photograph of the Estonia and Bulgarian basketball teams from April 1937 & a portrait photograph of Howard F. Spencer. The last group of photographs may be students who part of the Criminology and Justice program at Springfield College. The photographs on this page were on the back of the final page in the scrapbook that appeared to have anything to do with International students. This page was left in the scrapbook because the photographs could not be removed. The other pages on the Criminology program were removed as it was felt they did not really belong with the scrapbook. The scrapbook had many loose pages and pages that were falling apart. The exact order of the pages are as they pages were found when the scrapbook was digitized. It is not known whether this was the original order. It is not known who created the scrapbook, though the scrapbook was found within a group of materials belonging to Dr. Attallah Kidess. The last group of photographs may be students who part of the Criminology and Justice program at Springfield College. The photographs on this page were on the back of the final page in the scrapbook that appeared to have anything to do with International students. This page was left in the scrapbook because the photographs could not be removed. The other pages that had to do with the Criminology program were removed as it was felt they did not really belong with the scrapbook. This included five pages of photographs. A print copy of the page was placed with these other pages which were added to the School of Arts and Sciences Records College.; The scrapbook had many loose pages and pages that were falling apart.
